My first ANZAC Day at home in Australia in 14 years. Over the years I have been to many dawn services on the Western Front in France. They are always incredibly moving as they take place right on the battlefields of the Western Front. I was curious to see how my first ever dawn service in Australia would be. I ended up going to the local service in Burleigh Heads. It was really very sweet. It began at 4:28am, the time that the first Anzacs landed on the beaches of Gallipoli. I was really impressed that so many Aussies were up out of bed, many with their kids, to give remembrance to our diggers. The service was short and sweet, and the sunrise over the ocean to follow was simply stunning.
